LUCIANO

A winner of 10 DJ Awards and a pioneer of micro-house, Luciano is at the forefront of techno and electronic music. Born in Switzerland and raised in Chile, Luciano fell in love with techno music after discovering Detroit's first and second wave of producers. His flair for bold experimentation pushed the boundaries of a Chilean music scene more accustomed to el rock latino and quickly earned him a devoted following. By 21, he was playing at Santiago's Parque Almagro and Love Parade to crowds of thousands. At the cutting edge of electronic music in Chile, he then moved on to promote Sense Club and Encuentros con la Technocultura in Santiago along with other pioneers of Latin American electronic music like Ricardo Villalobos and Dandy Jack.

Moving to Europe in search of new challenges, Luciano’s signature mix of Latin rhythms infused with minimalist techno grooves came as a breath of fresh air to the European dance music scene. Luciano quickly gained acclaim among both audiences and his peers, releasing standout records on renowned imprints such as Perlon, Peacefrog, M_nus, Transmat, Playhouse, Klang Electronic, Metroplex, and Novamute.

Luciano's impact on the electronic music community extends to his work as a producer and executive. In these roles he has been a driving force in the electronic music community, working to promote and support emerging artists and pushing for greater diversity and inclusivity in the industry. In 2003, he founded his own label, Cadenza Records, and quickly made it a platform for showcasing innovative electronic music from around the world.

In the mid-2000s, Luciano formed a partnership with Circoloco in Ibiza, leading to a three-year residency that earned him a respected place in the annals of Ibiza dance history. He went on to light up the underground nightlife of Ibiza with a free event at the Ushuaïa beach bar, which soon turned into the biggest party of the summer, regularly attracting crowds of several thousand revelers. In 2010, he launched the Vagabundos concept: not just a party, but a real celebration of life, music, and magic, and a place where people could come together to explore different sounds and cultures. The Vagabundos concept has since traveled far and wide, electrifying audiences in cities like Cluj, Sofia, and Dubai, venues like Koko in London, Fabrik in Madrid, and Pacha in Ibiza, as well as at Zurich’s open-air Street Parade.

In 2018, Luciano celebrated the 15th anniversary of Cadenza Records, releasing a series of four records entitled "Sequentia", with each one representing a different season of the year. He then went on to organise the Magik Garden Festival in Santiago de Chile, whose stellar line-up of DJs like Sven Väth, Richie Hawtin, and Loco Dice attracted more than 10,000 partygoers. The Magik Garden Festival has since become an annual pilgrimage for both the South American dance scene elite and internationally renowned DJs. Luciano's ties to the rest of Latin America also remain strong, with recent tours including shows in Mexico, Argentina, and many other countries in the region. He has also performed regularly in North America, particularly in Detroit, Chicago, New York, and Miami.

Luciano’s sizeable contribution to electronic music is clear from his ten DJ Award wins, including six for Best Tech House DJ, as well as another 11 nominations in a wide range of categories.

Outside of music, Luciano founded the charitable organisation One Coin For Life. The charity channels donations from the electronic music industry into the preservation of vulnerable indigenous populations and their cultures. The charity’s first project involved constructing schools for the children of the Arhuaco and Kogi tribes in Colombia, before going on to provide support for orphans in the Vipingo Village in Kenya. The organization's current focus is on sustaining the Moroto school in Colombia through donations.
